Hi and to whom it may concern,
My mother and I most recently became acquainted with the ?The Property Tax Independence Act" of Pa. and LOVED IT! We found the bill most helpful especially since she, my mother, is a widowed senior on a fixed income (her social security) whose current property tax bill each year runs her $18,000 dollars and whose cost continues to rise. My mother and I are registered democrats but the dollar is what matters at the end of the day. The school tax portion of her property tax bill is in fact threatening to push her out of her home.
We live in Westchester County, New York currently ranked as having the highest property taxes in the country or at least the second or third highest. These property taxes are hurting other residents in this area just the same and they are looking for solutions. God knows that it is DESPERATELY needed in our region of the country. I would love to see this piece of legislation bought to the state of New York. We are looking to join a local tea party chapter that is addressing the property tax, more specifically the outrageous school tax issue, and who would be moving with the purpose of having the ?The Property Tax Independence Act" legislation enacted into law in our state.
Your Thoughts.
